Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a Nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian is a type of nutritionist who has undergone extensive training to earn the RD credential. A Registered Dietitian has completed didactic coursework in nutrition science and food studies, holds at least a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree required come 2024), completed 1200+ hours of clinical training as part of an accredited program, passed the credentialing exam to become an RD, and maintains the credential through continuing education every 5 years.

“Nutritionist” is not a regulated title in the United States, and therefore anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. However, a Registered Dietitian is a credentialed healthcare professional who has met the criteria outlined above.

Registered Dietitians have the option to use the credentials RD or RDN according to personal preference.

What health conditions can you help with?

As a Registered Dietitian covering this program, I have ample experience helping women with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes/diabetes, digestive issues, postpartum metabolic changes, perimenopause, and/or general nutrition and weight concerns.

How long is the program?

The length of the program varies based on the level of support you need. Typically, the duration is 3 months. For more information, please visit the program page.

How much does the program cost?

The cost of the program is dependent on the level of support you need and health insurance coverage — most patients have visits covered at $0 out-of-pocket with insurance! If interested, schedule your first session on the Berry Street portal, and the support team will verify your insurance coverage before your appointment. If your insurance plan doesn’t cover our sessions, someone on the team will reach out to you to discuss self-pay options.

Which health insurance plans do you accept?

Most major insurance plans are accepted, including Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Schedule your first session on the Berry Street portal, and the support team will check your insurance benefits before your appointment. You can also send a message to get more information about self-pay options.

In which states can you see patients?

All visits are conducted virtually.

If using health insurance, as a Registered Dietitian, I can accept patients residing in the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.

Otherwise, I can provide nutrition coaching to self-pay clients residing anywhere in the U.S.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All major debit and credit cards are accepted. If you have a copay or elect a self-pay option, your payment method will be collected via a secure online portal upon scheduling your first session.
